About Renew NC
Renew NC was created by the Division of Community Revitalization (DCR) to offer programs that address unmet hurricane recovery needs in western North Carolina, including housing, infrastructure, and economic revitalization. The programs will be funded through a $1.4 billion Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Final Notice and Public Explanation of a Proposed Activity in a Wetland
This is to give notice that DCR has conducted an evaluation for a proposed project located partially in the wetland and to provide an opportunity for public comment on the practicable alternatives for this project located in Haywood County between Harkins Avenue and Keith Street in Canton. Written public comments must be received by DCR on or before July 10, 2026.

Prescreening Opportunities
Renew NC is offering a prescreening opportunity to help potential applicants prepare for specific program application. The process provides an opportunity for potential applicants to identify and develop a CDBG-DR project in a technical assistance environment. While not required for program application submission, prescreening is strongly encouraged.

- The Community Infrastructure Program is accepting applications through September 8, 2026.
- The Multi-Family Construction and Repair Program: Non-LIHTC is accepting applications through November 2, 2026.
- The Commercial District Revitalization Program is accepting applications through August 4, 2026.
- The Small Rental Rehabilitation Program is accepting applications through July 10, 2026.
